Lesson 11 – How To Play All MAJOR Chords (3-String Triads) With The Root On The E-String!

Major shape “2-E”

Major shape “2-E” … starts on the 4th string (E-String) and ends on the 6th string (B-String) and uses the old “D” chord shape.

Here are three examples: To play an F-Major chord (F, A, C) simply press down the 1st fret on the E-String (using your POINTER finger), the 2nd fret on the G-String (using your RING finger), and the 1ST fret on the B-String (using your MIDDLE finger), and strum the “E”, “G”, and “B” strings. Use this same form for all Major chords when using this shape. To play a F#-Major chord (F#, A#, C#) simply press down the 2nd fret on the E-String, the 3rd fret on the G-String, and the 2nd fret on the B-String and strum the “E”, “G”, and “B” strings. To play a G-Major chord (G, B, D) simply press down the 3rd fret on the E-String, the 4th fret on the G-String, and the 3rd fret on the B-String and strum the “E”, “G”, and “B” strings. Use this form to play Major chords all the way down the neck. Practice and get familiar with this form on these strings.
